Sheffield United boss Bryan Robson hopes to sign permanently on-loan Aston Villa defender Gary Cahill.

Cahill is on loan with the Blades but Robson is keen to make the deal permanent for £1.5 million when the transfer window opens in January.

His loan deal runs out next month but United will ask for it to be extended with a view to both clubs agreeing a fee in the new year.
