New Sheffield United boss David Weir has snapped up Oldham Athletic midfielder Jose Baxter.

Weir coached Baxter at Everton.

The 21-year-old midfielder was at Bramall Lane on Thursday afternoon having a medical before completing a £350,000 transfer from Oldham Athletic.

Baxter was just 16 years and 191 days when he made his Everton debut against Blackburn Rovers in 2008 and last season helped Oldham to a famous FA Cup win against Liverpool before they were knocked out by Everton after a replay.
