Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell was furious with Sun Jihai after the China international's dismissal last night. In the Blades' 1-1 draw with Coventry, Sun endured a nightmare five minutes after half-time, first conceding a penalty, which was missed by Elliott Ward, and then being shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Malta forward Michael Mifsud.
Blackwell vowed to discipline the former Manchester City player, warning him he faces a fight to win back his place in the side once he has served a suspension.
Billy Sharp rescued a point for the Blades with a trademark finish but Blackwell was left frustrated with the actions of his summer signing.
He said: "Sun knows the rules, when players get sent off, every club has rules regarding sendings-off and its no different for Sun.
"He could find himself out longer than he thinks, as he's going to have to fight to get his place back."
Jay Tabb had given Coventry a deserved half-time advantage with a clinical right-foot finish after the Blades defence had failed to deal with Aron Gunnarsson's long throw.
