Sheff Wednesday avoid sanctions from FA

Sheffield Wednesday will not face any action from the Football Association over crowd disorder after their relegation decider against Crystal Palace on May 2, the club have announced. Several fans confronted players on the pitch in the immediate aftermath of Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Palace, which condemned the Yorkshire club to League One.

Wednesday's stadium operations manager John Rutherford told the club's website: "I am pleased with the outcome of the investigation as it fully vindicates our matchday operation here at Hillsborough and underlines the fact that the club did everything possible in its planning and preparation to manage any incidents following what was an extremely tense game against Crystal Palace."
