Sheff Wed continue their summer strengthening

Sheffield Wednesday have completed their third signing of the week with the capture of Paul Heffernan. The out-of-contract Doncaster striker has agreed a two-year deal with the Owls and will officially join the club on July 1, along with fellow new recruits Chris Sedgwick and Jon Otsemobor.

Wednesday boss Alan Irvine said: "Paul's goalscoring record speaks for itself. Goalscorers tend to stay consistent and I am sure that Paul will score goals for Sheffield Wednesday.

"I've done my homework on him as well and he certainly has the character to play for a club this size."

Heffernan, who has enjoyed loan spells at Oldham and Bristol Rovers, added: "I've been talking to a number of clubs but as soon as I found out about the interest from Sheffield Wednesday, my mind was made up.

"This is a massive football club and I can't wait to meet the rest of the lads and get started."
