Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough has said he has had talks with club officials about the possibility of Ched Evans returning to the League One after his release from prison. The 25 year old was sentenced to five years in jail after being found guilty of rape in April 2012.
He is set to be released from prison later this week.
"We've had one or two discussions and the owners will make a decision on it," Clough told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"It is above a football level. If he comes back then we [the coaching staff] will decide whether to play him or not."
The striker, who has always maintained his innocence, was a Sheffield United player when he was sent to prison.
More than 90,000 people have signed a petition calling on the club not to re-sign the former Manchester City man.
