Sheffield United skipper Chris Morgan has undergone knee surgery, which rules the defender out for the rest of the season. Morgan has been struggling with the problem this season and has now gone under the knife.
Morgan's absence means new loan signing Danny Batth will provide cover for current first-choice central defenders Kyle Bartley and Nyron Nosworthy.
The 20 year old is relishing the chance of winning regular first-team football at Bramall Lane.
Batth said: "I only joined up with the lads on Friday for the last training session and then it was off down to Bristol in the afternoon, but I was just as disappointed at how things went as everyone else.
"It's a great opportunity for me to be involved at first-team level and possibly get some games.
"I'm a big lad and compete, but like to think that I can play a bit as well."
