Sheff Utd continue to develop Indian links

League OneSheffield United are continuing to strengthen their links with India's leading football academy, reports the Sheffield Star. The Tata Football Academy will visit Shirecliffe in September, spending three weeks at United's training complex and competing against local teams.

Former United player Lee Walshaw is spearheading the association with the TFA which is widely recognised as being India's best.

The relationship, which involves no financial commitment from Bramall Lane, could eventually see some of the TFA's most promising talent being assessed by United's coaching staff and lead to mutually beneficial commercial opportunities.

Walshaw said: "We see the trip as part of the boys' ongoing development as they come to grips with European opposition and encounter styles of play that they aren't used to."
