England legend Alan Shearer cannot fathom why Harry Kane is so down on form.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker has struggled for the Three Lions in recent times which has prompted Shearer to question the 23-year-old's physical condition and confidence, while wondering why Leicester City's Jamie Vardy did not even feature for Sam Allardyce.
"I'm not really sure what has happened to Harry Kane," wrote Shearer for The Sun after Kane drew another international blank in England's 1-0 win over Slovakia on Sunday.
"He hit 32 goals for Tottenham and England last season in 64 appearances.
"However, his last goal came in a friendly win over Turkey in May. He had a terrible Euros and has now not scored in nine appearances for club and country.
"To me, he looks very tired, heavy legged and short of confidence.
"I was surprised he even started, with Jamie Vardy having found the net twice already this season, including in the Community Shield.
"As it was, Vardy did not even get on the pitch last night."
