Shearer tells Man Utd ace Pogba: Tell Raiola to shut up!

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has told Paul Pogba he needs to order Mino Raiola to "shut-up" to rescue his relationship with Manchester United fans.

Pogba has been given numerous opportunities to shut down transfer links to Spain in recent weeks but hasn't taken them and he's now been told to do his talking on the pitch.

"I said it a couple of weeks ago, he needs to tell his agent to shut up and he needs to start playing football like he did in the World Cup," Shearer told the Manchester Evening News.

"That's all you can say about it. He's paid to play football and he's not playing as he can or as he should do on a regular basis.

"The ability is there, I don't doubt that, as we saw for France and as we saw a few times last season - but not enough. He's got to get his head down and play and let his football do the talking instead of anything else."

Much has been made of Pogba's relationship with Jose Mourinho at the start of the season but Shearer doesn't believe it is necessary for a player to be friends with their manager.

"You don't have to love your manager, you get paid to play football," Shearer said. "It doesn't matter whether you love or hate your manager, and if fans see you trying and working your socks off, then that's good enough."
