England legend Alan Shearer feels Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney can grab the Euros by the scruff of the neck tomorrow night. Shearer explained in The Sun: "I genuinely believe Rooney can now come out of this tournament as the star.
"If he does England might just surprise everyone and win the whole thing.
"Despite his red card in the qualifier in Montenegro, Rooney is a genuine world-class player who has everything.
"At tournaments of such a high standard like this any team with pretensions about winning need a player like him and we've got him.
"A player who can see a 20 or 30-yard pass that nobody else can.
"A player who can smash a volley into the top corner from outside the box or pop up from nowhere as a penalty-box poacher.
"Someone who can quite literally change the course of a game on his own.
"That is why he must play against Ukraine - and I would put him up front with his Manchester United team-mate Danny Welbeck."
