Alan Shearer is keen to stay long-term as Newcastle United.

The Sunday Sun says sources close to the Geordie legend have confirmed he WOULD be willing to remain in the Magpies hotseat - as long as club owner Mike Ashley can guarantee him the funds to take the club forward.

And although money is currently tight, with relegation looming large and a compensation battle with former boss Kevin Keegan ongoing , the promise of Shearer staying on is set to see Ashley attempt to attract a major new investor to join him at St James's Park.
