Middlesbrough midfielder Mohamed Shawky has dismissed reports that claim he could return to Egypt in January.
He told the Evening Gazette: "There is no truth in the rumours. I don't want to go back to Egypt. I want to stay here and become a success. The manager has said he has faith in me and I am determined to show that he is right to support me.
"I'm very happy here. I like the football club and my team-mates. I knew it would take time to settle, but in the three months I have been here I feel I have become a better player.
"I have been in a lot of first team squads without getting a chance to play, but I am desperate to get in the team to help Middlesbrough and show the supporters what I can do."
Shawky, who played in Boro Reserves' friendly win at Newcastle this week, has been working hard on his fitness and getting used to a new style of play.
He said: "I knew it would be hard, that I would have to adapt to the pace of English football, but I feel that it is a privilege to be here and have this chance ... my heart is set on becoming a regular player for Middlesbrough."
