Stoke City captain Ryan Shawcross says the players need to start repaying the faith manager Mark Hughes is showing in their abilities.
He believes Hughes is helping take his game to a higher level - and he is determined to prove it, starting when Southampton come to the Britannia Stadium this afternoon.
"We'll need to improve from the way we played at Birmingham to get anything from Southampton," said the centre-back to The Sentinel.
"It's a massive game and we need to make sure our tactics are good and we put in a better performance.
"We've played really well this season. The manager has introduced a new philosophy and we've been playing some good football. What we need now is to get points on the board.
"He's brought a fresh influence on the pitch and he's been brilliant. I've thoroughly enjoyed it, he's helping my game come on and we need to get results for him."
