Ryan Shawcross credits his progress at Stoke City this season to defensive partner Abdoulaye Faye.

The former Manchester United defender told The Sentinel: "He's been massive for me. The fact I have matured has shown in my performances.

"That is down to Abdoulaye really. I owe him a lot because he helps me out in training, talks to me a lot and is different class to play next to.

"He's chipped in with three goals this season and I thought he was top class, as he has been throughout the season. He's definitely our player of the season so far."
