Louis van Gaal has revealed that Luke Shaw will undergo surgery on his broken leg in Manchester.
20-year-old left-back Shaw was badly injured in a tackle by Hector Moreno in Manchester United's 2-1 loss to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League group stage opener on Tuesday night.
Following the defeat, van Gaal told the press that Shaw would remain in Holland until Wednesday or Thursday before travelling back to the UK for a procedure to fix his broken right leg.
"He has a double leg fracture," van Gaal said.
"He is in hospital. He will be transferred (to the UK) tomorrow with us or maybe a day later and then operated on in Manchester
"It is awful. He was crying."
United were beaten despite Memphis Depay's classy 41st-minute opener against his former club, which came from a Daley Blind pass, before Moreno's header deflected off Blind and Luciano Narsingh nodded home Maxime Lestienne's pinpoint left-wing cross to complete a famous comeback for PSV.
