Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote's move to Shanghai Shenhua has stalled.
The Evening Chronicle says the Chinese Premier League club appear to have had a change of heart on the move.
However, there is thought to be interest from other clubs in China with Beijing Guoan also keen on his signature – and Tiote still wants to quit Newcastle this month.
Tiote had jetted back from Spain following talks last week with the Shanghai club. The ex FC-Twente star had still been hopeful of the move but Shanghai's backroom team had also asked to consider other alternatives to Tiote.
