Shanghai Shenhua announce link-up with Aussie strugglers Sydney

Chinese giants Shanghai Shenhua have announced a formal partnership with A-League strugglers Sydney FC.

Shanghai Shenhua owner and chairman, Zhu Jun, said in the statement that the partnership would provide mutual benefits, both in football terms and commercially.

Sydney FC chairman, Andrew Kemeny, said the partnership was the first step in establishing the brand of Sydney FC within Asia and had the potential to provide his club with numerous benefits.

Shanghai Shenhua finished runners-up in the 2008 Chinese Super League, while Sydney FC are likely to miss out on this season's A-League playoffs with a few matches left to next month's finals.
