Didier Drogba admitted he and his Ivory Coast teammates were lucky to beat Togo 2-1 in their African Cup of Nations Group D opener on Tuesday.
The Elephants were served by an 87th minute winner from Arsenal's Gervinho after Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure had put them ahead inside nine minutes prior to Jonathan Ayite levelling for Togo on the stroke of half-time.
Shanghai Shenhua striker Drogba suggested there was an element of relief in the win.
"Togo gave us a good fight so 2-1 is still a great win," he said.
"Of course we want to win but there are 15 other teams that want to win, too. We'll give it our best."
Ivory Coast next meet Tunisia on Saturday whilst Togo are up against Algeria on the same date following the Tunisians 1-0 win over the Algerians on Tuesday.
