Popstar Shakira says Gerard Pique will stay with Barcelona.

The couple have been linked with a move to the US next year.

"Gerard's loyalty is totally towards Barcelona," Shakira told Verissimo.

"He is an institution in that team and it is difficult to find a player like that.

"Footballers are mercenaries in a sense; they come and go from one team to another."

Despite the money on offer in the game, Shakira says that her husband is different.

"There is no money that could buy him," she added.

"I think he is one of the few players who has been born and raised in the Barcelona ideology and he has internalised it."
