Shakhtar Donetsk coach Mircea Lucescu admits Willian was close to joining Chelsea and Tottenham in the summer.
Willian was impressive in last night's draw at Champions League opponents Juventus.
"Willian is already a well-known player. This year he seemed all set to join Chelsea or Tottenham, but we couldn't reach an economic agreement. He is a great talent," said Lucescu.
