Scottish Football League clubs seem likely to refuse Scottish Premier League's vote to restructure Scottish football in a 12-12-18 three-tier system.
Lower league outfits have vetoed the SPL's proposals for a league reconstruction, preferring to go with a 12-12-10-10 four-tier competition, which would cater for bottom-rung clubs who could not compete in an 18-team division.
However, Record Sport suggests that top flight clubs are prepared to back the lower league clubs and could actually vote for the four-tier system at a meeting at Hampden on Thursday if it appears agreeable.
