SFA President desperate for Scotland Euro qualification

George Peat admits he'll feel like a failure if Scotland don't qualify for Euro 2012, reports the Scottish Sun.

The SFA chief is in his last year of power and is confident Craig Levein can take Scotland back to major finals.

Peat said: "Since I was appointed my main ambition was to qualify again for major tournaments.

"Although we've come close we have never achieved that, which is frustrating.

Ultimately, my term will expire before we find out if we're successful.

"I'll have seen half of this campaign so hopefully we'll be well on the way.

"We're full of optimism ahead of the qualifiers, although we know that Lithuania isn't the easiest place to go.

"It will be a tough match, but we're all hopeful of doing well.

"This is Craig's first competitive match and we're looking forward to it.

"People are decrying the game here, but they seem to forget it wasn't that long ago we were playing Italy for a place at Euro 2008. It's unfair to talk down the ability of some of our players."
