SFA to let Sunderland's Fletcher and Levein sort out their own problems

The Scottish Football Association will not get in the way of Steven Fletcher and Craig Levein's personal row.

Last month, the Sunderland striker said he was prepared to again play for the Scotland national team after making himself unavailable for the better part of two years but it appears as though manager Levein is having none of it.

There have been calls for the SFA to step in and resolve the issue but president Campbell Ogilvie says the decision to recall the in-form Fletcher basically lies with Levein.

"There's been a lot of speculation in the press about this but it's the manager's prerogative," said Ogilvie.

"The manager is employed to pick the players he thinks should be in the squad and I don't believe the board should be interfering in that process. Not at all.

"From my involvement at club level when there was speculation about boardroom involvement in the team selection, I'm clear it has to be down to the manager."

Scotland next take on Wales in Cardiff on October 12 before a trip to Brussels too meet Belgium four days later in 2014 World Cup qualifying following two home draws with Serbia (0-0) and Macedonia (1-1) last month.
