SFA could be hit with fine after Croatia set off flares during Scotland trip

The Scottish Football Association could face penalties from FIFA after flares were set off at Hampden during the recent World Cup qualifier between Scotland and Croatia.

FIFA could issue a hefty fine to the SFA despite the fact the flares were set off by visiting fans and not the Tartan Army during Scotland's 2-0 victory in Glasgow.

A FIFA spokesman said: "We can confirm disciplinary proceedings have been opened against the SFA and the Croatian Football Federation for incidents reported during the preliminary competition match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil between Scotland and Croatia on October 15.

"As the proceedings are ongoing, we cannot comment further."
