Sevilla defender Federico Fazio is a target for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

The Mirror says Wenger has got his scouts scouring Europe for potential centre-half purchases - and they are looking seriously at the young Argentinian.

Fazio has one full cap for his country and is known to be a no-nonsense defender who is strong in the air. He is also good on the ball and has played as a defensive midfielder.

Fazio holds an Italian passport, so a switch to the Premier League would not be held back by work permit problems.

He said: "I've heard about the rumour and Arsenal, but I am concentrating on my career with Sevilla at the moment."
