Sevilla have ended their pursuit of Tottenham midfielder Giovani dos Santos.

They believe Tottenham's valuation of the Mexico international is still too high and have switched their focus to strengthening other areas of the squad.

"He is now not a target for us because his price is superior to the market value," Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido told radio station SVCF.

"It is true that the coach has demanded this footballer but now we are searching for a different type of player.

"If we spend money in January the chances are it will be a forward."
