Sevilla management are beaming after their double midfield swoop this week.

Boca Juniors midfielder Gary Medel and Schalke playmaker Ivan Rakitic are both finalising their transfers to Sevilla.

Rakitic, 22, arrived late last night for a medical while Medel's move was agreed last week and is close to being completed after he arrived in Spain this week.

Chilean World Cup star Medel, who plays as a defensive midfielder but also in defence, said: "I'm happy to be here, hopefully everything goes well.

"I am as player who gives everything I have on the pitch and play with my heart. I hope I can make a positive contribution to Sevilla.

"I want to win titles with the club."
