By signing a new deal with Sevilla, Federico Fazio has quashed rumours linking him with a move to Arsenal. The Argentinean defender has put pen to paper on fresh terms with his current club, agreeing a one-year contract extension until 2014.

The 21-year-old said in the Daily Mirror: "I've heard about the rumour and Arsenal, but I am concentrating on my career with Sevilla at the moment."

He added: "I'm very happy with this extension, which shows the confidence that they've had in me since I arrived."
