Sevilla coach Marcelino admits he really wanted to close a deal for Tottenham winger Giovani dos Santos in the summer.

In the end the two clubs could not agree over a fee for the Mexico international, which has left Marcelino frustrated.

"The main idea was Giovani because we were all in agreement. His profile, his game, youth, qualities ... We had others but then were eliminated from the Champions League. And we could not close the other two.

"I do think we will try for a striker in the winter (market)."
