Sevilla sports chief Monchi admits they made an attempt for Real Madrid star Kaka while he was coming through the ranks at Sao Paulo.
Kaka left his Brazilian club for AC Milan, however Monchi revealed: "Since the beginning, we knew he would become a great player.
"He had everything and we liked him a lot. But his price was too high from the start and most major European clubs were immediately positioned to sign him.
"We could not compete with AC Milan, so we had to resign ourselves to leave this track without being able to negotiate with him."
