Sevilla chasing Newcastle pair Merino, Lejeune

Sevilla have joined the race for Newcastle United midfielder Mikel Merino.

The Evening Chronicle says Real Sociedad have already offered £10million for the midfielder, while Real Betis and Athletic Bilbao are also long-term admirers of the 21-year-old.

However, it is understood that Sevilla have now informed Merino they are keen to bring the midfielder back to Spain this summer.

New Sevilla manager Pablo Machin is keen to recruit an additional midfielder on top of Mesa this summer, while it also understood that Magpies centre-back Florian Lejeune is his top centre-back target.
