Sevilla batter Rangers at Ibrox

Rangers crashed 4-1 at home to Sevilla for their worst home result in the Champions League since 1996. The score was goalless at half time with Rangers more than matching their impressive La Liga opponents.

In fact the hosts should have been awarded a stonewall penalty before the break after Steven Naismith was tripped by Abdoulay Konko.

Amazingly Swedish referee Jonas Eriksson, just ten yards away, waved play on.

But it was a different tale in the second half as Sevilla ran riot.

Konko headed the opener, Adriano added the second. Another header, this time from Luis Fabiano and a Freddie Kanoute effort completed the rout.

The Gers consolation came with two minutes remaining from Nacho Novo.

This result puts Group G favourites Sevilla four points clear at the top.
