Global cryptocurrency investment platform Etoro has announced new partnerships with seven Premier League clubs, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.
Newcastle United are one of several clubs striking deals with the social trading network, with six rivals: Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton and Hove Albion, Cardiff, Crystal Palace, Leicester City, and Southampton also signing up.
The landmark deals are thought to be the first Premier League partnerships to be paid for in Bitcoin.
The agreement will see Etoro gain global exposure, with the brand featuring on pitchside branding as well as in other marketing outlets for the clubs.
Newcastle's head of partnerships Dale Aitchison said: "We are delighted to welcome Etoro to our family of high-profile commercial partners.
"This is a leading player in an emerging industry and we are looking forward to exploring opportunities in cryptocurrency and technology together."
UK managing director at Etoro Iqbal Gandham added: "As a leading multi-asset company, we are excited to be partnering with so many Premier League clubs and to make history by being the first company ever to pay for a Premier League partnership in Bitcoin.
"[This] announcement is very much the first small step on a long road to football fully embracing blockchain technology."
