Setanta collapse could affect refereeing revolution

Referees supreme Hugh Dallas admitted his revolutionary idea to explain controversial decisions within hours of them happening on Saturdays will have to be shelved unless league bosses thrash out a new TV deal following the collapse of Setanta. Dallas told the Daily Record: "When we made the initial announcement about our intentions we had a TV deal in place.

"The plan had been to get access to the highlights of the matches and to get information out early to the public and the media.

"We feel they require an explanation to some things but in the past, our hands have been tied and it may have to stay like that next season if we don't have access to the pictures.

"It would be frustrating if that were to be the case but hopefully we'll hear something shortly from the SPL about TV coverage.

"We have a good league so I would be surprised if there is a TV blackout. Fingers crossed we will still be able to put the system in place for next season."
