Serbia v Scotland will be dead rubber says former Dundee United boss Golac

Ivan Golac suggests the Serbia versus Scotland World Cup qualifier on Tuesday is essentially a dead rubber.

Serbia, situated third with four points in Group A, host the Scots, bottom with two points, in Novi Sad but the fixture will mean nothing according to the former Dundee United boss.

Golac believes both Serbia and Scotland will not even scare making it to the World Cup finals in Brazil in 2014 and also suggested that Serbia boss Sinisa Mihajlovic could soon be on his way out.

"Serbia against Scotland is the meeting of two very average teams who are both out of the competition already - and it hasn't even started," he said.

"Both sides are in total disarray. Serbia have a lot of problems and last October lost 3-0 to Belgium then 1-0 to Macedonia. In the past, you could never have imagined that happening.

"Belgium? They used to be a joke team for us and it shows the level to which our game has descended. Now we must play Croatia and they are undoubtedly the best team in the group.

"Mihajlovic is under pressure if we don't qualify - and Serbia are finished already after those defeats.

"The best quality by far is in the Croatia side. They are so sharp with Mario Mandzukic, Nikica Jelavic and Luka Modric. Belgium might get second place but Serbia don't have a chance."
