Seongnam Ilhwa manager Shin Tae-yong believes the standard of the A-League has improved dramatically since he played in the competition's inaugural season in 2005.
The South Korean, who played for the Brisbane Roar and also acted as assistant coach until 2008, suggests that Australia's domestic league has added some technical ability to its raw power and feels the overall quality has improved in the past few years.
"It's now a mixture of power and now they have added technique. The level has gone one notch up.""Since 2005 it is a very different game," he said.
Shin's Seongnam, who won the Asian Champions League in 2010, drew 1-1 with A-League minor premiers Central Coast Mariners in the group stage of the same competition on Tuesday.
