Clarence Seedorf was forced to defend himself after AC Milan's disastrous 4-0 thrashing by Inter on Saturday night, it has been revealed. La Stampa says the Dutchman faced heated questions from teammates and coaching staff after Rino Gattuso was forced to carry on after turning his ankle, which eventually saw the midfielder give away a penalty and sent-off in the space of a chaotic 21 minutes.
Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has demanded an explanation from team manager Vittorio Mentana over coach Leonardo's decisions on substitutes on the night.
Seedorf has pleaded his innocence and it's emerged that indeed the Dutchman was caught out by a change of mind from Leonardo. Initially, the coach had planned to send Massimo Ambrosini on for Gattuso, but then changed his mind and wanted Seedorf to go on, but word had not been received in due time.
Galliani will receive Mentana's report this morning, but the main issue that is expected to be addressed is Leonardo's chummy relationship with the players. The Brazilian will be urged to be more authoritive and impose himself on the squad. There are also doubts again over Ronaldinho's status in Leonardo's system.
