Newcastle United striker Michael Owen has undergone new surgery, it has been revealed.

The Sunday Express says Owen has had a secret groin operation in Germany as injuries once again play havoc with the Newcastle United striker.

He has taken the opportunity to try and clear up a nagging groin problem.

He visited world renowned specialist, Dr Ulrike Muschaweck, who operated on both groins in September 2007.

But with Owen suffering renewed pain, both the player and his club decided to take advantage of the latest lay off.
