Chad Marshall has been named the 2014 MLS Defender of the Year.
The Seattle Sounders centre-back has landed the award for the third time in his career to become the first MLS player in history to do so.
30-year old Marshall has starred for the MLS Supporters' Shield winners in his debut campaign with the Sounders following his move from Columbus Crew at the end of 2013.
Marshall, who made 31 appearances for Seattle in the regular season, won the prize from DC United's Bobby Boswell, LA Galaxy's Omar Gonzalez and Columbus captain Michael Parkhurst.
