Seattle Sounders have released eight players following the culmination of their 2014 MLS season.
Former Reading, Wolves, Fulham and Everton goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann and ex-Liverpool and Monaco defender Djimi Traore are among the group that the Sounders have opted to part ways with.
The remaining players who were not offered new deals are defender Onyekachi Apam, and forwards Tristan Bowen, Sean Okoli, Cam Weaver and Eriq Zavaleta.
Defender Jalil Anibaba is out of contract making it eight players who may not be with the Sounders in 2015 with general manager Adrian Hanauer suggesting some of the players could still be kept on.
"In our league it's a consistent challenge to keep successful teams together, and these types of decisions are always difficult," Sounders co-owner and general manager Adrian Hanauer said in a statement.
"Having said that, conversations are ongoing with several players about their respective futures with our club, and as we continue to shape the roster for 2015 we'll have additional announcements to share."
