Seattle Sounders' Martins admits sub huff was due to frustration

Seattle Sounders ace Obafemi Martins has revealed that his tantrum at being benched on the weekend was born more out of frustration than anything else.

The Nigerian striker was visibly upset at being hooked by head coach Sigi Schmid in the 82nd minute of the 1-1 draw with the LA Galaxy but has since admitted it wasn't a personal attack on his boss, rather a swipe at himself for a poor game.

"I just get angry with the fact that I didn't do much in the game," Martins said.

"So I got angry that I got put out. But I'm not thinking of getting angry with the manager. I just get angry with myself that I've not been doing my best in the game. That's it."
