Seattle Sounders join Green Sports Alliance

MLS club Seattle Sounders have joined other pro sporting clubs to form the 6-team Green Sports Alliance.

The Sounders have teamed up with Major League Baseball outfit Seattle Mariners, NFL club Seattle Seahawks, WNBA's Seattle Storm, NBA side Portland Trailblazers and NHL club Vancouver Canucks to form a nonprofit organization which has been put together 'to reduce the environmental impact of pro teams' (The Associated Press).

The idea of the alliance is to raise awareness of environmental issues concerning professional sporting bodies for fans and businesses alike.

AP also reported that 'The Green Sports Alliance has received endorsements from the commissioners of each of the respective sports leagues as well as the Environmental Protection Agency.'
