MLS club Seattle Sounders will become the first franchise in US sport history to hold a vote to elect a general manager.

The Sounders have announced plans for season ticket holders and Alliance members to vote whether or not they want to keep current GM Adrian Hanauer or have him overthrown.

The online vote will begin on Sunday, October 7 at noon (PT) and conclude on Friday, December 7 at 11:59 p.m. (PT). More details on the voting process will be announced next week by the club.

Sounders season ticket holders and Alliance members will have a voice by participating in the general manager elections every four years.
