Seattle Sounders general manager Adrian Hanauer expects some of the 'family' to be taken in Wednesday's Expansion Draft.
Incoming MLS clubs Vancouver Whitecaps and Portland Timbers get their chance to begin their inaugural MLS playing rosters with free selections in the draft and Hanauer knows that some Sounders players could be on their way out.
"Expansion is good for our league but the expansion draft is a tense and emotional time for the club and the players," Hanauer said in a release. "Unfortunately, we may lose one or two members of the Sounders family on Wednesday. Once the draft is complete, we will make the best of it and move forward, strengthening our team with the aim of winning championships."
Some of those names left unprotected for the draft include regular starters Leo Gonzalez, Patrick Ianni, Sanna Nyassi and Nathan Sturgis as well as Designated Player Blaise Nkufo.
