Seattle Sounders are expected to announce the signing of Deportivo Cali striker Freddy Montero. Montero, who scored 20 goals in 38 games this past season for Deportivo Cali, practiced with Seattle earlier this week but has yet to get his P-1 work visa. He is expected to have all his paperwork completed for the regular-season opener on March 19 against the New York Red Bulls.
"It's going to be an ongoing process," Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer about Montero's transition. "Certainly he's shown his ability already at times on the field."
