Seattle Sounders expect Dempsey to be back next week

Seattle Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid suggests Clint Dempsey will be back in action next weekend.

The USA international, who joined from Tottenham in August, has only managed five appearances for the Sounders but should be fine for an assault on the business end of the campaign according to Schmid.

"Clint just wasn't ready to go," said Schmid after Dempsey missed his second outing in a row, this time being 1-1 draw with New York Red Bulls on the weekend.

"We felt we needed to shut him down or else we'd lose him for a more significant part. We'll see how they come along this week. The expectations now are that they both have a chance at playing this coming weekend (at Colorado Rapids)."
