Seattle Sounders dump Ticketmaster for SeatGeek

Reigning US champions the Seattle Sounders have announced a new partnership with SeatGeek, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

From the beginning of 2018, the company will replace Ticketmaster as the Major League Soccer (MLS) side's official ticketing partner.

SeatGeek's platform will enable the franchise to sell tickets via any site or app of their choice, allowing fans to purchase tickets directly from the club in a number of places across the web or on social media.

Additionally, fans will be able to transfer tickets to friends via text and through both the SeatGeek and Sounders mobile apps.

The deal sees SeatGeek expand its presence within US soccer, after it was announced as the official ticketing partner of MLS last year.

"From day one, we have been a fan-first organisation, constantly seeking to improve our season ticket members' experience with every aspect of our club," said Bart Wiley, chief operating officer of the Seattle Sounders.

"We made this decision with our fans in mind.

"Partnering with SeatGeek as our new official ticketing platform provides our season ticket members with a more tech-centric, simpler and cleaner way to manage their tickets. It also offers our club new ways to engage the marketplace. We believe our fans will be impressed with the efficiency and feel of the new system."
