Seattle Sounders forward Fredy Montero has dedicated his brilliant goal against New England Revolution last weekend to a good friend.
Montero said his goal and celebration of kissing a black armband were for the memory of a former teammate.
"It was a tribute to Herman Cordoba, a player for Deportivo Cali," said Montero of his friend who died in a car accident last week.
"We did practically everything at the youth level together," Montero said of Cordoba.
"We grew and advanced together playing on a professional team. It's tragic what happened, and it was important for us to show support for his family from afar and we were sharing their grief."
