Almost all of the leagues in England have finished for the 2009/10 season and we review how all the key Australians performed.
English Premier League
Tim Cahill (Everton): The Socceroos star made 33 appearances, all starts, for the Toffees this season. He scored 8 goals and provided 4 assists as his club finished 8th on the league table. Will gain selection for the Australian World Cup squad.
Vince Grella (Blackburn Rovers): The former Parma and Torino midfielder could only managed 15 appearances as the Rovers finished 10th in the league. Grella had another campaign interrupted by injury but is hoping to be full fit for next month's World Cup. Should be included for the World Cup squad.
Brett Emerton (Blackburn Rovers): Emerton managed 17 appearances although only 10 of them were starts and produced just one assist in a so-so season for him, although he did have to endure a few injury woes. Is likely to make the final cut for the World Cup squad.
Mark Schwarzer (Fulham): The number one goalkeeper played all but one of the 38 league games, keeping 12 clean sheets as Fulham finished 12th on the league table. It was the Europe League, however, where Schwarzer made a real impact, helping the Cottagers to the final where they went down to Spain's Atletico Madrid. Will take the gloves for the Socceroos in South Africa.
Richard Garcia (Hull City): Garcia made 18 appearances for the Tigers in a season which saw them relegated to the Championship. He failed to score and could provide just one assist in an injury-ravaged season.
Nick Carle (Crystal Palace): Carle made 22 appearances as Palace managed to avoid relegation. He scored just once and started 14 times.
Adam Federici (Reading): Australia's number two keeper started all 46 league games for the Royals who managed a 9th placed finish. He was the only player to play every game for Reading and kept 11 clean sheets for the term.
Scott McDonald (Celtic/Middlesbrough): The diminutive striker left Scotland to join Middlesbrough in January and after he crossed scored 4 goals in 13 appearances for the Teessiders and provided one assist. Before his move, he scored 9 goals in 16 matches with Celtic in the Scottish Premier League and 12 goals in 21 matches in all competitions.
Rhys Williams (Middlesbrough): The midfielder made a name for himself with his performances this season. He made 32 appearances as Middlesbrough finished 11th, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
Brad Jones (Middlesbrough): Jones pushed his name forward for World Cup selection by making 24 appearances in goals for Boro and ending the season as Gordon Strachan's first choice gloveman.
Patrick Kisnorbo (Leeds United): The big centre-half was in stellar form for the Whites before a serious Achilles injury cut him down earlier this year. The former Leicester City skipper made 29 appearances, scored one goal and had two assists as Leeds were promoted back to the Championship after finishing second.
Neil Kilkenny (Leeds United): The midfielder made 24 appearances, scoring two goals and providing three assists in a solid campaign.
Shane Lowry (Leeds United*on loan from Aston Villa) Lowry enjoyed a solid stint on loan with Leeds, making 11 appearances after spending most of the first half of the campaign with Championship club Plymouth Argyle where he played 13 matches.
Gareth Edds (Tranmere Rovers): Edda made 35 appearances for Tranmere, scoring three goals and giving two assists as the club finished 19th on the table, avoiding relegation.
Dean Heffernan (Huddersfield Town): The former Central Coast Mariners left-back joined the Terriers in January and ahs so far made 15 appearances. The West Yorkshire club face Millwall in a play-off this Wednesday for a chance to be promoted to the Championship.
